The duties described are for the full-performance level. At developmental grade levels, assignments will be of more limited scope, performed with less independence and limited complexity. Serves as one of the principal points of contact for service regarding official application for inspection documents (domestic and export), certification, work records, billings, appeal applications, and questions on related documents. Processes domestic and export rice, commodity and grain inspection documents and produces associated certificates. Provides clerical support activities for field office management and staff. Assists with the licensing of official agency personnel and contract inspectors. You may apply if you are a current AMS employee with career/career conditional tenure in the Competitive Service (You must submit an SF-50 that reflects current employment with AMS and career/career-conditional tenure (Tenure field is 1 or 2); AND status in the competitive service (Position Occupied field is 1). Must be able to self-certify typing speed of 40 words per minute or more. FOR THE GS-05 LEVEL:
Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-04 level) that may have been obtained in the private or public (local, county, state, Federal) sectors which demonstrates:
using software packages to produce a variety of documents, e-mail, and updating calendars; utilizing standard office procedures in order to conduct routine work and knowing when to refer issues to a supervisor for further guidance; preparing routine correspondence, ensuring that spelling, grammar, and formatting are correct; and entering data into spreadsheets and databases such as Excel and Access. Must be reflected in resume.; OR Successfully completed a full 4-year course of study above high school. This education was obtained in an accredited business, secretarial, or technical school, junior college, college, or university. One year of full-time academic study is defined as 30 semester hours, 45 quarter hours, or the equivalent in a college or university, or at least 20 hours of classroom instruction per week for approximately 36 weeks in a business, secretarial, or technical school. Applicants must have one year of specialized experience (equivalent to the GS-05 grade level) that demonstrates:
using software packages to produce a variety of documents, e-mail, and updating calendars; utilizing standard office procedures in order to conduct routine work; preparing routine correspondence or reviewing the correspondence of others, ensuring that spelling, grammar, and formatting are correct; maintaining an inventory of items and requesting supplies when needed; and entering data into spreadsheets and databases such as Excel and Access. Must be reflected in resume. Equivalent combinations of education and experience are qualifying for the GS-05 grade level. Applicants must meet all qualifications and eligibility requirements by the closing date of the announcement. Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional, philanthropic, religious, spiritual, community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
